Student Thesis: AE-analysis

Non-destructive testing of Type 4 pressure vessels for the hydrogen economy via acoustic emission analysis

NPROXX is a global leader in designing, developing and manufacturing Type 4 pressure vessels for the storage of hydrogen under high pressure. We believe that the role of hydrogen is going to grow massively in the coming years. Already today our products are helping our customers to deliver clean and efficient energy solutions.

Your tasks
• Describing the state of the art of acoustic emission (AE) analysis for carbon-fiber reinforced structures (in detail for pressure vessels)
• Conception and realisation of an AE-analysis test set-up
• Development of a standardised and automated test procedure (incl. data evaluation)
• Analysis of AE in hydrostatic and hydrodynamic pressure tests of Type 4 pressure vessels
• Evaluation of test results and correlation with quality features of the pressure vessels

Your profile
• Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science or comparable
• Experienced in analysis of materials and components
• Good understanding of hardware (sensors), implementation and data evaluation
• A high degree of self-motivation, drive, confident and determined approach
• A high degree of teamwork, motivation, resilience, thoroughness, reliability and analytical skills;
• Good written and spoken English knowledge and German.
